CAPITOL LAB BAND
ABOUT CAPITOL LAB BAND
The Capitol Lab Band is a full 17-piece Big Band in the "modern" style, playing mostly original compositions by band members and friends, plus other high-energy charts by today's top composers and arrangers.
As a "laboratory" band, musicians and composers are encouraged to try out their compositions and arrangements in a musically cooperative environment. Original compositions are strongly encouraged, and no piece is too small to be sampled during weekly rehearsals.
The band formed, as so many things are these days, through social media and online postings by founder and leader Eric Jesteadt in the spring of 2016. The goal continues to be having professionals, semi-pro and good amateur players come sit in and have a great time playing great music. There are not too many open "seats" in metro area bands, so if you or someone you know wants to sit in with a quality band, you're welcome at our rehearsals from 6-8 pm most Sundays at TC Williams High School (enter Door 33) in Alexandria, Va.
For performances, the best players will play, and in the meantime, come work out your "chops" and have a great time.
